Pineapple In The News

There were two very different and arguably opposing articles published, depending on your view of GMO’s, this week promoting pineapples. The first was an announcement by NBC news and others that a petition of the FDA, by a pineapple grower in Costa Rica for approval of a “pink fleshed” pineapple, had been approved making pink fleshed pineapple now permitted for sale in the US. The second was devoted to the healthy aspects of pineapple in general. One has to assume the latter was in response to the former though in the end, consumers will make up their own mind regarding GMO fruits and vegetables.

You can read the article on the health aspects of pineapples here: http://a.msn.com/05/en-us/AAmTNAP?ocid=se
